The Government’s £15 billion Warm Homes Plan is a multi-year framework designed to improve energy efficiency, tackle fuel poverty and reduce household energy costs for up to 5 million homes across the UK by 2030.

With extensive experience in delivering large-scale retrofit programmes, Sustainable Building Services is well placed to support the next phase of the Warm Homes Plan.

Sustainable Building Services is one of the UK’s largest providers of retrofit residential decarbonisation works. Working with social housing and private residential property, we manage and deliver large-scale energy efficiency, low-carbon technology and whole-house retrofit schemes to MCS / PAS 2030 and PAS 2035 Standards.

Experience spanning decades

We were one of the first UK contractors to deliver PAS 2035-compliant schemes at scale, and to take an area-based approach, blending funding across mixed-tenures to maximise impact across communities.

Our work improves the health, comfort and well-being of thousands of households each year. It also addresses issues relating to fuel-poverty and the cost-of-living crisis, while helping to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. All of this supports the UK’s progress towards meeting net zero targets.

Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund (WH: SHF)

As one of the UK’s most experienced tier 1 decarbonisation contractors, we have experience in supporting registered providers of social housing, successfully delivering SHDF/LAD/HUG projects between £1m - £25+ million.

We are one of only a few contractors to have delivered under all previous SHDF phases - from Demonstrator through to Wave 2.2 - improving the lives of over 17,000 people across projects totalling £170m.

Warm Homes: Local Grant (WH: LG)

Warm Homes: Local Grant gives local authorities in England an opportunity to make large scale energy efficiency improvements to households. This could be managed and delivered in conjunction with, or separately, to Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund (WH:SHF).

As a partner, we can manage all or as many aspects of the customer journey as required, providing an end-to-end retrofit journey and solution, including customer acquisition, retrofit advice, energy surveys (assessments), direct installation of measures, and customer/LA/WH:LG administration and reporting.

Excellence in Retrofit

We deliver projects through all decarbonisation and energy efficiency / low-carbon funding streams. Where possible, we blend funding on a project-by-project and/or dwelling-by-dwelling basis, to increase uptake and maximise impact across an area or region:

  • Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund (WH:SHF)
  • Warm Homes: Local Grant (WH:LG)
  • Optimised RetroFit Programme (ORP)
  • Local Authority Delivery (LAD)
  • Home Upgrade Grant (HUG)
  • Client funded projects.

As a turnkey provider, we can take responsibility for the end-to-end retrofit journey. We provide surety to clients and stakeholders that all aspects and stages of their decarbonisation projects will be delivered in compliance with TrustMark requirements and the demands of specific funding schemes.

In addition to retrofit decarbonisation project delivery, our services include stock / asset and funding management, mixed tenure / private home acquisition, retrofit assessment / coordination / design services, and EEM / MCS installation.

We work with many clients, including:

Collaboration and Expertise

Our approach to decarbonisation project management is based around full collaboration; working in partnership with project stakeholders. This is crucial when developing, planning, managing and delivering decarbonisation projects at scale.

To support this approach, we have developed a network of trusted suppliers and partners, including PAS 2035 service providers and energy efficiency / low-carbon technology installers. They complement our in-house capacity and capabilities, enabling us to mobilise retrofit projects within industry-leading timeframes.

Our networks and experience also allow us to support, identify and maximise funding for clients whilst, importantly, ensuring projects are delivered in compliance with standards, funding requirements and deadlines.
