We have recently enhanced our social value team through the appointment of a new social value manager. The appointment of Angela Jones further strengthens our commitment to delivering meaningful benefits and social impacts for residents and communities alongside our work improving homes across the UK.
Angela brings extensive experience in delivering positive social outcomes within the construction sector. She joins from MCG Construction, where she established the role of social value manager, working with leading main contractors nationwide to develop and deliver initiatives including education partnerships and programmes supporting local employment initiatives.
Angela will step into a central role – strengthening and coordinating our social value delivery across our nationwide portfolio of retrofit projects.
Our emphasis on social and community benefits includes the creation of local training, apprenticeships and employment opportunities, working with schools and colleges to promote careers in the green economy and helping households maximise the benefits of energy-saving measures.
Angela said: “I was drawn to SBS knowing this is a business genuinely motivated by the needs of the communities it serves. Households across the country are facing significant challenges, and this is somewhere I know I can make a real difference.
“SBS is growing quickly, but it’s clear the business is led by a strong sense of purpose – improving people’s homes while transforming the communities around them.”
The new social value manager will work closely with site-based project teams and resident liaison officers to build on the many social value initiatives already being delivered across projects. Angela will certainly manage and help capture our social and community impacts more effectively and identify new opportunities to support local people.
Angela added: “I’m looking forward to taking a hands-on approach – getting out on site and meeting with project teams and residents as much as possible. Our teams already do fantastic work in communities, from volunteering and fundraising to supporting residents and local organisations. By continuing to bring that work together, we can build a clearer picture of the positive impact we’re making and expand it even further.”
Our managing director Gary Lawson said: “Angela is the perfect fit for our central social value manager role – she brings valuable experience and a real passion for social value. On one level, the process of retrofitting is an improvement to buildings. Yet we must always remember the ‘why’ – improving people’s lives by bringing energy costs down, improving comfort and strengthening the communities we work in. Angela is taking on a significant role, helping us to have the most positive impact across all of our projects.”
