In the same week that we learned of our success on the Fusion 21 Energy Efficiency Framework, we also heard that we had been awarded a place on the Efficiency East Midlands (EEM) Property Improvement Works Framework.
The framework will cover major and minor investment and refurbishment schemes, cyclical improvement works - including works across multiple and single sites - and any additional Decent Homes programmes or new initiatives that arise.
In December, we reported that we had begun three new schemes for Wrexham County Borough Council, one of which was a re-roofing project at Tegid. It involved roof repairs to a total of 29 properties – a mix of flats and houses – and was valued at £232,000.
Work on site came to a successful conclusion on 21st February 2020.

In December 2019, CHIC (Central Housing Investment Consortium) announced that it had appointed SBS as one of the contractors on its ‘Procurement of Internal and External Building Works Framework.’
Principally, the framework covers planned works for homes across the Midlands, the South and South Wales, although some wider work may be required because some CHIC clients operate nationally.

SBS recently received video footage from its latest aerial survey of Plas Madoc in North Wales, where it is delivering a large re-roofing and external wall insulation project for Wrexham County Borough Council.
Work is now well advanced, with many properties now complete, so this survey gave us the chance to document the various improvements. Comparing the footage with the video we took in February, the extent of the finished works is very clear.
SBS is one of four contractors recently appointed to a new multi-measure scheme in the Midlands. The work was procured through the Merlin Framework on behalf of Bromford Housing Association.
SBS was appointed to the Merlin framework a number of years ago, but it won its place on this latest contract as a result of a mini tender. Its bid was assessed on the basis of price and quality. The quality elements of the submission were judged by criteria including experience, knowledge and understanding; resources and management structure; and added social value and innovation.
SBS recently commissioned an aerial photographic / video shoot of its insulation and re-roofing work at Plas Madoc in Wrexham. The results are now back and we're showing some of the results here.
As we reported in a previous post, the £2.1M scheme involves 220 occupied properties. Phase 2 began in September 2018 and is scheduled to continue until February 2020. The work is being carried out as part of Wrexham County Borough Council's Re-roofing and Group Repairs Framework.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has selected Sustainable Building Services (UK) Limited to deliver a multifaceted refurbishment and energy efficiency project involving 76 occupied properties.
The apartments are located within 14 residential blocks in Barry, South Wales.
The absence of cavity walls has made thermal performance an important priority. Consequently, a key aspect of the £920,000 scheme will be the design and installation of an appropriate solid wall insulation system.
