The SBS team is getting bigger each month as we deliver increasing numbers of decarbonisation schemes across the UK. The latest to join us are two new trainee quantity surveyors, Amber Lawton and Lucas Roberts.

Amber comes to us from Winstanley College in Wigan, where she completed her A-levels. Under her new apprenticeship programme, she will typically be spending three days a week on-site, one day in the SBS head office, and another day studying at John Moores University, working towards a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying.

Lucas is our other new trainee QS. He recently finished his GCSEs and is now studying towards a level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. This will be a two-year course at Hugh Baird College and it will entail spending three days in college and the other two days either in the SBS office or based on site. Upon completion of his BTEC, Lucas intends to start a three-year degree course in Quantity Surveying.

In Lucas’ case, his choice of career is continuing a family tradition. His father is Steve Roberts, who is also a qualified QS and who now works on the SBS senior management team as Operations Manager.
