Visualisation of properties fitted with external wall insulation

In February 2019, SBS began enabling works on a new site in Redcar, in preparation for installing external wall insulation (EWI) to 92 occupied homes. It is acting on behalf of Beyond Housing, following a successful competitive tender.

Later in the year, SBS will begin a second phase of works, involving an additional 98 properties in nearby Overfield. The two phases are expected to be completed within nine months. The project is worth a total of approximately £1.1 million.

SBS and Rykneld Homes staff, presenting flowers to the tenant of the 1000th completed property

On Tuesday 12th February, SBS staff attended a special public event in Derbyshire, organised by Rykneld Homes to mark the completion of the thousandth property to be fitted with external wall insulation.

Towards the end of the ECO2 programme, we managed to secure additional funding from the energy company E.ON to support an extension to the original scheme. (See our previous post for details.)  As a result, we have been able to treat 172 of the properties in a single phase.

Aerial view of re-roofing works at Plas Madoc, Wrexham

SBS recently commissioned an aerial photographic / video shoot of its insulation and re-roofing work at Plas Madoc in Wrexham. The results are now back and we're showing some of the results here.

As we reported in a previous post, the £2.1M scheme involves 220 occupied properties. Phase 2 began in September 2018 and is scheduled to continue until February 2020. The work is being carried out as part of Wrexham County Borough Council's Re-roofing and Group Repairs Framework.
