Fresh off the success of the National Retrofit Conference at Futurebuild in March, our exhibition stand will be headed to the housing industry’s biggest annual conference – Housing 24.

Taking place in Manchester from 25-27 June, the event is penned as one of the only times the whole housing industry comes together each year – and 2024’s conference will be especially well-timed for anyone with an eye on decarbonisation of social housing stock.

A focus on SHDF

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero recently published draft guidance for the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 3 – more information here – ahead of a clarification period, which concludes in early June. While the opening date for the Wave 3 application window has not yet been announced, Housing 24 falls just a few weeks after this draft guidance and clarification period – meaning SHDF Wave 3 will be a big talking point for many in attendance.

We agree with Housing 24 that the next government needs to place the delivery of high-quality, accessible, affordable, and sustainable housing at the heart of long-term plans for the UK – but through our work we understand the vital importance of applying this to existing homes too. Indeed, this is certainly going to form a huge focus for our own presence at the event throughout the week at our exhibition stand (D49).

Along with this, to decarbonise the millions of homes we need to around the country, work needs to be done in the private market too, helping owner occupiers and landlords improve their homes as well.

Our focus is – and will always be – on making an actionable difference to individuals. The impact of poor housing on health and wellbeing is clear, and with the cost of living, energy security and climate crises still all posing challenges, the work we do has the power to transform lives, particularly for the more vulnerable members of our society living in social homes.

Unlock Net Zero Awards

The Wednesday evening will see the Unlock Net Zero Awards, which are being hosted in partnership with the British Property Federation (BPF). We are shortlisted for three categories:

  • Supply Chain Partner of the Year
  • Collaboration of the Year Retrofit Project – for our work with Rykneld Homes
  • Climate Champion of the Year – our chair and owner Derek Horrocks

You can read more about these awards shortlists here. We’ll be attending the ceremony on the night and look forward to celebrating the very best in decarbonisation and retrofit works with our industry peers.

If you’re attending Housing 24, you will be able to find us at Stand D49 along with colleagues from PermaRock – make sure to come and see us.
