External wall insulation

SBS is one of four contractors recently appointed to a new multi-measure scheme in the Midlands. The work was procured through the Merlin Framework on behalf of Bromford Housing Association.  

SBS was appointed to the Merlin framework a number of years ago, but it won its place on this latest contract as a result of a mini tender. Its bid was assessed on the basis of price and quality. The quality elements of the submission were judged by criteria including experience, knowledge and understanding; resources and management structure; and added social value and innovation.

In 2018, SBS began a £920,000 scheme for The Vale of Glamorgan Council, which involved re-roofing and fitting solid wall insulation to 76 occupied properties. The scheme is now nearing completion, with many local families already enjoying warmer homes and lower heating bills.

Located within 14 residential blocks in Barry, South Wales, the properties have been fitted with a BBA-certified external wall insulation system manufactured by the British manufacturer Soltherm. It comprises EPS insulation and an acrylic render.

SBS is currently working as a specialist EWI installer on two tower blocks and a new-build retirement village in Nottingham. The scheme involves fitting PermaRock solid wall insulation to two existing 14-storey tower blocks - Winchester and Woodthorpe Courts - and to a collection of newly built residential properties.

Social housing provider, Derby Homes has awarded SBS a number one ranking in its new four-year framework for external wall insulation services.

The organisation's Insulation Installations Framework covers  a variety of energy efficiency measures and has a potential value of up to £4 million over four years. It awarded Sustainable Building Services (SBS) a place under two categories of work: Schedule 1, Lot 3 - External Wall Insulation; and Schedule 2 - External Render Repairs.

In the closing stages of a three-phase refurbishment scheme for Bolsover District Council, SBS has been applauded for its flexibility, its commitment to quality and its readiness to help the client deliver a successful project.

As part of its work for Nottingham City Homes, SBS recently visited local schools to talk to children about site safety and careers in the building industry for women.

In 2016, Seddon Construction appointed SBS to install external wall insulation to five high-rise residential blocks at Scholes Village in Wigan. Work was completed on the first block in September, and work on the next two blocks began in October. Two more began in 2017.

Sustainable Building Services (UK) Limited has won a £3.5 million project to install external wall insulation to 558 properties in Chesterfield and Bolsover. The contract was awarded through a four year solid wall insulation framework managed by Efficiency East Midlands (EEM).

On 24th May 2012, staff from SBS (formerly St Anne's Contractors) went to the National Motorcycle Museum in Coventry to appear in the 2012 Wates Group National Supply Chain Awards.
