In July 2019, SBS was awarded a place on a new framework for Stoke-on-Trent City Council. This marks the start of a new working relationship, and the work is expected to run between the end of this month and March 2020.
We have secured a place on Lot 3 for General Building Works (which includes external wall insulation.) The work, worth up to £600,000, will apply to a variety of property types. Weston Coyney Estate encompasses 114 properties, comprising four blocks of flats, 2- and 3-bedroomed semi-detached houses, and a number of 1- and 2-bedroomed bungalows.
The nature of the external works will vary by property but could typically include painting and decorating, renewing rainwater goods and building plastics, replacing external doors, renewing external lighting, and fitting replacement kitchens and bathrooms.
Additional works will be required at nearby Field View, where 16 bungalows require improvements. These require a mixture of energy efficiency works, including solid wall insulation and window replacement, and minor external improvements to rainwater goods and roofline. Other works could include fitting new cladding, and either painting or replacing timber gates and store doors.
"Stoke-on-Trent City Council is a new client for us," said company chair, Derek Horrocks. "We're grateful for the opportunity to show what we can do. We've previously won awards for our projects and our innovation, and independent reports have cited SBS as an exemplar of industry best practice. I hope that we'll quickly be able to show the council why we've earned these accolades, and why our approach makes such a difference. "
