On 5th July, SBS staff will attend a “Spark Apprenticeship Marketplace” event at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston. It will run from 9:30am to 3:00pm.

The day-long event is a platform for enabling meetings between prospective degree apprentices and regional employers. It is part of a series of sessions, each focusing on a specific sector: engineering, construction, business and digital industries.

UCLan notes that “Businesses will meet several potential future degree apprentices on a one-to-one basis during a two-hour speed pitching session, where they can award opportunities to those who impress them.”

Participants will also hear from keynote speakers and will have the opportunity to take part in a question-and-answer session with an industry panel.

Martin Blunt, Head of the UCLan Enterprise Engagement Unit, said: “It is so important that our future apprentices understand the pace of change within the sector they want to work in, and the best career opportunities open to them. These day-long sessions provide the perfect opportunity to do just that.”

SBS will be looking particularly for people wishing to join the company as Quantity Surveyors and Construction Managers.

“Apprenticeships have always played an important role in developing and expanding our workforce,” said SBS Commerical Manager Ian Jones. “Some of our senior management team originally started out here as apprentices, so it’s a career route that we really value and support. Taking part in the UCLan event is one way that we can show that support, and we’re looking forward to meeting some ambitious new candidates who want to join the Sustainable team.”

Aspiring apprentices who would like to attend should first register via EventBrite. UCLan’s dedicated web page includes a link to the event in Preston on 5 July, amongst others.

Candidates wishing to discuss potential roles and opportunities in advance are invited to contact Ian Jones by email: ian.jones@sustainablebuildinguk.com.
