SBS is pleased to announce the appointment of James Phillips, who joined the company in June, taking the role of Regional Operations Manager.

The newest appointee to our senior management team, James will support our continuing growth, taking responsibility for the delivery of a number of projects in the East Midlands – an area in which he’s worked for the last 8 years. He will manage site and commercial teams across the region, ensuring that we meet operational targets and build on the opportunities that are now being presented by increased public funding for decarbonisation works.

As a long-established specialist in managing energy efficiency retrofit schemes for housing providers, SBS has amassed considerable experience of delivering through different funding mechanisms. Most recently, these have included Local Authority Delivery (LAD phases 1 & 2), the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (Demonstrator and Wave 1), the Energy Company Obligation and the Home Upgrade Grant.

Looking ahead, new phases – including LAD3, SHDF Wave 2, ECO4 and HUG – will generate further opportunities and, as a Trustmark-registered contractor, SBS is keen to build the capacity to capitalise on them. James has 18 years’ experience in contracting, working with local authorities and social housing providers, and his appointment is a part of this strategy. Contracts management and operations have been key elements of his work for the last 15 years. He has considerable experience of building long-term partnerships and managing ‘whole house’ works that ultimately improve homes and entire communities.

“I am delighted to be joining SBS,” said James. “I’m looking forward to getting to know my new colleagues and adding value at an exciting time for the business and for the sector as a whole.

“The UK government and numerous trade associations have recognised the scale of the decarbonisation challenge that lies ahead of us, and new funding and quality standards are giving the industry the tools that it needs. I’m looking forward to being part of the SBS team, and leading projects that make a real difference in terms of carbon reduction, fuel poverty and residents’ quality of life.”
