Lee's Fight to Raise Funds

SBS Contracts Manager, Lee Rodgers has announced that he'll be taking part in a fund-raising boxing match to raise funds for a children's cancer charity.

The bout will take place in November. Lee's chosen charity is Hallam FM's Cash for Kids. He has set up a fund-raising page on the Cash for Kids website, and is hoping to secure at least £1000 in donations. Anyone wishing to contribute can visit the page here.

Excellent Progress in Wrexham

SBS recently received video footage from its latest aerial survey of Plas Madoc in North Wales, where it is delivering a large re-roofing and external wall insulation project for Wrexham County Borough Council.

Work is now well advanced, with many properties now complete, so this survey gave us the chance to document the various improvements. Comparing the footage with the video we took in February, the extent of the finished works is very clear.

SBS Completes Another Successful High Rise EWI Scheme

SBS recently completed the installation of external wall insulation to two 15-storey tower blocks - Winchester and Woodthorpe Courts - and to a number of new-build residential properties in Nottingham.

Known collectively as Winwood Heights, the development as a whole comprises the two existing tower blocks and a new, 44-apartment development, which sits between them. The properties are managed by Nottingham City Homes and boast a total of 224 apartments, all with 'assisted living' support.

Recent Starters

In April, we reported that Steve Roberts had joined the senior management team as Operations Manager. Since then, a number of other key staff have come on board to support our continued expansion.

In July Steve Rich joined us as Contracts Manager, having spent many years working in the construction sector in roles including Site Manager and Contracts Manager. His first major responsibility has been to run our ongoing scheme in Stoke-on-Trent.

Improving Customer Service

SBS recently held a one-day team meeting for liaison officers, members of the commercial teams and other staff. Its purpose was to share best practice and to identify new and innovative ways of improving customer service.

During the forum, staff spoke about their experience of 'doing what works' and providing feedback from residents and clients about SBS's procedures and approaches. The event proved very useful, with many of the comments and suggestions being written up into a document that will contribute towards our continuous improvement culture.
