On Tuesday 29th January 2013, Peter Maddern, Head of Contract Compliance at the British Board of Agrément visited the Sustainable Group headquarters to present a certificate of approval to company directors Gary Lawson and Derek Horrocks.
The certificate confirms that the business is an approved BBA installer for external wall insulation installations carried out to the PAS 2030:2012 standard under the Green Deal funding scheme.
The company received official acknowledgement of its ‘Green Deal Approved’ status in October 2012 but Mr Maddern’s visit marked the formal presentation.
The BBA’s statement notes: “The BBA has approved Sustainable Building Services (UK) Ltd to PAS 2030: 2012 which sets out the specification for the installation of energy efficiency measures in existing buildings. (It) has been approved for the installation of external wall insulation. To gain approval, the company had to satisfy the BBA that it met the core requirements of the PAS including an initial evaluation of the installation process, record keeping, the management and service provision aspects of the PAS, plus on-going surveillance visits.”
Receiving the certificate, Managing Director Gary Lawson said: ‘Winning approval to PAS 2030 is a great achievement for us and will mean we can capitalise on the additional installation work which the Green Deal will provide. We chose the BBA because we knew that their approval process is thorough. For complex measures, such as external wall insulation, the BBA’s initial assessment and on-going surveillance of our installers includes seeing work in progress at key stages. This is so important as badly installed solid wall insulation can create more problems than it solves.’
