New Building Works Contract, Stoke on Trent

In July 2019, SBS was awarded a place on a new framework for Stoke-on-Trent City Council. This marks the start of a new working relationship, and the work is expected to run between the end of this month and March 2020.

We have secured a place on Lot 3 for General Building Works (which includes external wall insulation.) The work, worth up to £600,000, will apply to a variety of property types. Weston Coyney Estate encompasses 114 properties, comprising four blocks of flats, 2- and 3-bedroomed semi-detached houses, and a number of 1- and 2-bedroomed bungalows.

Aerial Video Shows High-Rise Results

Last year (2018), SBS completed external wall insulation works to six high-rise residential blocks at Scholes Village in Wigan. The properties were all occupied and included five 12-storey blocks, and a more complex 10-storey block.

In May 2019, we commissioned an aerial survey of the finished results. As the accompanying photographs show, the finish still looks pristine and the system as a whole is performing flawlessly.

External Refurbishment of PRC Properties, Bromford

SBS is one of four contractors recently appointed to a new multi-measure scheme in the Midlands. The work was procured through the Merlin Framework on behalf of Bromford Housing Association.

SBS was appointed to the Merlin framework a number of years ago, but it won its place on this latest contract as a result of a mini tender. Its bid was assessed on the basis of price and quality. The quality elements of the submission were judged by criteria including experience, knowledge and understanding; resources and management structure; and added social value and innovation.

SBS Appoints New Operations Manager

As part of its continuing growth, SBS has announced the appointment of Steve Roberts to the senior management team as Operations Manager.

Steve joined the company at the end of April 2019, but this is not his first experience of Sustainable Building Services. He has twenty years' history of working with company chair Derek Horrocks, and prior to a two year period with another construction sector business, he spent many years working as SBS's Commercial Manager.

External Renovation Contract, Cheltenham

In April 2019, SBS received news that it had won a competitive bid for a new Cheltenham Borough Council contract, entitled: 'External Renovation & Improvement of Cornish Type Properties.' It won the open tender on the basis of both price and quality.

The work will be split into two phases, worth a total of £2m to £2.5m. Phase 1 is scheduled to commence in June 2019 and must be complete by November. It will entail improvements works to 36 properties, comprising four 2-storey blocks of flats (16 units in all), and 20 houses, which will be a mix of mid- and end-terraces.
